Humidifiers
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions and Concerns
What is the difference between an ultrasonic humidifier and a conventional humidifier?
There are 3 main types of humidifiers:
- Classic - steam - humidifies the room by producing hot visible water vapour. The water is in a gaseous state.
- Ultrasonic - a special membrane uses vibrations to create microdroplets of cold visible mist.
- With natural humidification - air flows through a constantly wetting filter and becomes saturated with water, this is so-called invisible humidification.
How often to clean the water tank?
As needed and depending on the hardness of the water, but at least once every 2 weeks. When cleaning, follow the instructions in the manual.
Is the function of the ioniser essential?
In addition to freshening the air, ionisation causes the dust particles to gather into larger clumps which, due to their higher weight, then sink to the ground and can be easily vacuumed up with a vacuum cleaner. Ionisation is therefore an aid to air purification.
Can I add essential oil to the humidifier?
Yes, you can add a few drops of your favourite fragrance and the humidifier will then diffuse this fragrance into the room along with the humidity. However, the device works mainly as a humidifier, so the level of scenting is not as strong as with an aroma diffuser.
Doesn't the water evaporate along with the dirt?
If there are dust particles and other impurities trapped in the water, only clean water enters the air during evaporation and the impurities remain trapped outside the humidifier or on the surface of the water tank.
The machine emits less steam than before. What to do?
The lower steam output may be caused by impurities (e.g. limescale) in the lower water chamber. In this case, carefully clean the lower chamber, especially the water-degrading converter, according to the instructions.
The problem may also be in the water - if it is old or too dirty, the machine may not work properly.
The humidity is low and the device cannot increase it. What to do?
If you've only been using the humidifier for a few days, it's possible that moisture is still being absorbed by furniture, flooring and other materials. Only when these are saturated will the humidity start to increase. This phenomenon can last for up to a week.
It is also possible that the room is too large and the humidifier is sized for smaller spaces. So when choosing a humidifier, pay attention to the recommended size of the room to be humidified.
Can I pour mineral water into the humidifier instead of tap water?
Mineral water is not suitable for humidifiers because it clogs the atomizer more quickly with limescale.
If you decide to use mineral water anyway, you will need to descale the appliance more often.
