Air purifiers
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions and Concerns

Do air purifiers remove odors?

Purifiers that have an activated carbon filter are very effective at removing odors. They can eliminate odors from smoke, pets, food, garbage and even baby diapers. Other types of filters, such as HEPA filters, are not as effective at removing odors as they are at removing pollution particles.

What is an activated carbon filter?

An activated carbon filter is made of a thick layer of activated carbon that absorbs gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the air. It helps to reduce various types of odours.

What is a HEPA filter?

High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters remove 99.97% of particles that are 0.3 microns or larger from the air. This makes air purifiers with HEPA filters ideal for removing small particles of pet hair, dust mite debris and pollen from the air.

Will I be asthma or allergy free with an air purifier?

No. Air purifiers prevent asthma symptoms and allergies by filtering out airborne allergens such as pollen, dust and animal hair. However, they do not treat asthma and allergies. Purifiers are more of a preventative measure; not a cure.

Where to place an air purifier?

Place the air purifier in a room where you spend a lot of time, such as your bedroom. Make sure there are no obstructions to the airflow of the purifier. Nothing should be placed in front of the air purifier to obstruct the airflow.

What is PM2.5?

PM2.5 stands for particulate matter 2.5 micrometres in diameter. It can be solid particles or droplets of liquid in the air.

What does CADR stand for?

This abbreviation represents an important measurement for air purifiers. CADR stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate. This measurement was developed by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers.

It indicates the volume of filtered air delivered by the air purifier. The higher the CADR number, the faster the unit filters the air and cleans the room.

What is the lifetime of the filter?

The filter life is 3600 hours. Once the filter icon starts flashing, the filter needs to be replaced.

How do I extend the life of the filter?

Particles settled inside the HEPA filter can no longer be removed gently. The life of the filter can be slightly extended by vacuuming its surface.

Is the function of the ionizer with IonTrue® technology important?

In addition to freshening the air, ionisation causes the dust particles to gather into larger clumps, which then sink to the ground due to their higher weight and can be easily vacuumed up with a vacuum cleaner. Ionisation is therefore an aid to air purification.

How long should the air purifier be switched on?

The best results are achieved if the air purifier is run continuously. Most air purifiers have several cleaning speeds. Lower speeds then have lower energy consumption and are less noisy. Some air purifiers also have a night mode function. This mode is tailored so that the air purifier disturbs you as little as possible while you sleep.

All of this saves energy and reduces costs while maintaining a clean environment.
